Looking around the fair, specifically into interiors and textiles, there were a few re-occuring themes of patchwork and florals;
- Pale and pastel shades of pinks and greens
- Traditional and contemporary drawn florals
- Fun, fresh and naive driven designs
- Patchwork and handcrafted looking textiles
- Eclectic, and varied designs combined together
- Tonal collections of more commercial textiles (small palettes of colour variations)
- Patterned textures and sculptural textiles
Fortunately, we were able to watch a trend prediction lecture from WGSN's interior section 'HOMEBUILDLIFE.' Which allowed visitors to look into the trends existent and find them within the product ranges.
Some photographs of the Fair and set-ups...
This was part of the stand for 'The Coach House' interior company. Beautiful white washed branches displayed on top on a rustic wooden panelled wall. All these elements help create the notions of a country lifestyle and design.
I took this photograph because I was considering the idea of displaying things on shelves or units, I thought this idea of shelves combined with a ladder structure was really interesting.
This was an installation display, using cut metal for the butterfly and dragonfly shapes and plastic/paper for the sculptured florals. Displaying an image or pattern is really interesting when its more like an installation with components having relief and depth, creating a more sculptural display. I think the interest comes from something having more of a realistic and natural form or structure, rather than a flat pattern which only gives you one perspective to something.
