Transition Buxton

I helped out at the Transition Buxton fair on Saturday, where we had to produce a T-shirt displaying an 'inspirational statement' to make people more aware of issues in textile production and waste. My T-shirt said 'EVERY YEAR 3,250,000 TONS OF TEXILE IS BURNT OR GOES INTO LANDFILL' which is a statistic I found in my research for my dissertation. The idea was to shock people and make them realise what they could do to help. We worked with mainly children from the school where the fair was held, and we helped them make bags by hand sewing from re-cycled fabrics. The whole idea of the fair is to make people aware of what is going on, and changes people are making to become more 'eco' and because the most important generation to educate at this time is children.
