Felt is a particularly obvious beautiful material, and can have connotations of being cheap and childish looking. Although, when a felt is dyed with a particular sophisticated colour, it can have a very charming look. This particular piece justifies this fact, the way the designer has used only one colour and its a very contemporary grey tone (also plain white). The shadows that are created from this very unusual quality of shape and texture are really attractive, and the fact that the shadows lye only on the material itself rather than its surroundings is very intriguing. I feel the piece works better with light, because of the added depth it generates, and a more focused pattern.
